Linguistic, concept and symbolic composition in adults with minimal receptive vocabulary

In this paper, we examine some basic linguistic abilities in a small sample of adults with minimal receptive vocabulary, whose mental verbal age ranges from 1;2 to 3;10. particular, whether the participants our study understand noun phrases consisting modified by an adjective. We use stimuli that they can recognise name. Except for one participant, find that, while all them and adjective isolation, none seems these phrases, which means seem not do composition. order test difficulty is or conceptual, ran two other studies, on concept composition, iconic symbolic composition (composition pictograms). Results suggest particularly difficult population, vocabulary breadth may predict compositional abilities.
